The position of Head Teacher has become available at one of our independent special schools in Devon. The post can be on an ongoing contract or a permanent position, depending on the successful applicant.
The ideal candidate will be someone who is prepared to get involved in all aspects of school life, be a people person, have experience in a pupil referral unit or SEN, be primary or secondary trained and have some management experience.
The school provides education and residential care for up to 40 secondary-aged students of both genders who have severe emotional and behavioural difficulties. A majority of these have a statement of special educational needs. All have been previously excluded from schools in their home area and some are referred to the school having served periods within secure units. The school describes itself as a ‘last resort school’ which aims to provide positive educational experiences for its students so as to equip them for later life. |
