Job description

As part of our on-going relationship with Supply Cloud and the Crown Commercial Service, we are actively recruiting graduate cover supervisors to cover a range of long term, short term and day to day assignments we have in Norwich.

During these unprecedented times, children have been out of their schools for a long time now, now they are back have you got what it takes to help them settle in?

Cover Supervision requires a wide range of skills to be carried out effectively.  You may find yourself in a different school every day, teaching a different set of pupils. As a cover supervisor, it’s essential that you can build professional relationships quickly and can adapt to a fluid and dynamic school environment. In our experience, we’ve seen candidates from theatre or performance background be very successful.

Our ideal candidate will have the following attributes;

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree from a UK university (Classification 2:2 and above)
  • The ability to establish good relationships, encourage good working practices and support students in their learning
  • Previous experience working with children in some capacity (E.g Drama workshops, tutoring, Dance Teaching etc.)
Candidates will be subject to a variety of checks including an enhanced DBS check, full references including your most recent employer and eligibility to work in the UK.

Step Teachers are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

Unlike other agencies, Step Teachers are more than happy to process your pay via PAYE – you will not be forced to go with an Umbrella Company.

Step Teachers are an agency listed as an approved supplier on the Crown Commercial Service.  This is a new framework for schools to use, ensuring they have access to reputable agencies that meet certain safeguarding and recruitment guidelines.  The DfE are heavily marketing this service across schools and we would strongly suggest making sure you are registered with a CCS approved agency moving forwards.  Registering with Step Teachers ensures you are working for a trusted partner of the DfE.
