Step Teachers are currently looking to employ a skilled set of SEN Teaching Assistants who would be available for a long-term assignment in one of our partner schools situated in Saltash. The role is set to be full-time and will be on a 1-1 basis with Secondary aged pupils. 

This school is situated in a lovely, lively site where inclusion and alternative provision are of the highest priority. The school are well known for their high standards in providing an outstanding education to their SEN Pupils and pride themselves on being able to deliver a bespoke educational experience to their pupils. 

This post would ideally suit candidates who have a strong understanding of Autism as well as additional learning needs. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be required to work 1-1 with a set pupil, reinforcing the provision plans set out by the class teacher and allowing access to the learning taking place in the classroom. 

The post is set to start ASAP on a full-time basis. For the right candidates, these posts can become permanent. 

As an SEN Classroom support assistant, you will:

  • Provide a bespoke 1-1 education to a child with barriers to learning.
  • Ensure that you have read and understood the specific needs of your 1-1 child, referring to any EHCP or Support plans that have been provided for additional information. 
  • Take the time to develop a bond with your 1-1 child.
  • Provide any feedback to the class teacher.

What you will need:

  • Referenced experience working in a classroom setting.
  • Experience working with SEN Pupils or professional development certificates that show an interest of working with SEN Pupils.
  • A CV that covers work and academic history for the past ten years, including months and years.
