Job description

Do you have experience working with children who have behaviour and complex learning issues? Step teachers are currently working with an alernate education provider who provides high quality education and ensures progress for all children and young people through a high quality network of alternative provision centres. We are working with one of their centres in Lowestfot who are seeking to recruit teachers to join their team in Spetember on a full time basis.

The pupils have a range of needs. Therefore, it is essential the SEND teacher can possess an empathetic approach to the learners. You will need to be aware of boundaries and also aware of external issues that may appear in the classroom from time to time. 

Our ideal SEND Teacher will have experience within this setting or would be able to demonstrate examples of experience gained within a mainstream sector. You will also be able to demonstrate the following attributes;

  • Have an degree from a United Kingdom university at 2:1 or above.
  • Hold QTS or equivalent
  • You will need confidence and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and philosophy.
  • You will have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs and Educational Inclusion, and the needs of the more able and talented.
  • You will have excellent classroom management strategies that are robust and flexible, and will be seen as central to the performance of you and your pupils.

Candidates will be subject to a variety of checks including an enhanced DBS check, full references including your most recent employer and eligibility to work in the UK.
