Step Teachers are urgently seeking a Teaching Assistant with a strong understanding of Autism, to work within a support team for a Primary aged student with complex needs. The student in question is deaf, so therefore experience with British Sign Language (BSL) would make for a perfect candidate. Teaching Assistants who have previously worked 1-to-1 with autistic children are encouraged to apply. Ideally the candidate will have both experience with autism and BSL, but applicants will be accepted from those who have either. This position is for after February half term, and is ongoing.

  • It is essential that applicants hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification, additional supporting qualifications are appreciated but not essential
  • The client is looking for a candidate with experience they can directly apply to the role, a proven track record will make for a strong application
  • Applicants must be able to work as part of a small team, good communication and teamwork would be great traits to have
  • You should be passionate about providing the best possible care and attention to children who have Special Educational Needs
