An Ofsted-rated Good school in North London are currently looking to recruit a Computer Science teacher to help their students navigate through the tough labyrinth that is GCSE and A-level exam season. As exams are coming up, a trained Computer Science/Computing specialist is required as soon as possible on supply, though there may well be an opportunity to move onto a permanent contract at the end of the academic year.

As a teacher of Computing and Computer Science at this once all-boys’, now mixed school you will be part of a wonderfully supportive, intelligent and forward-thinking team; in fact, the entire school staff can be described as such – the school’s ethos is very much born out of a forward-thinking approach to teaching and this is evident at all levels, filtering down from the Head and SLT. The Computing department is one of the school’s most innovative although they have, admittedly, struggled to recruit the right teacher, though mainly out of bad luck with agency staff and third-party agreements over the past couple of years.

The salary for this position is on the Main Pay Scale – while the school would love to be able to offer UPS teachers this opportunity as well, they are not in a financial position that allows them to offer upper level salaries for ‘Teacher of…’ roles right off the bat. However this is very much an opportunity for the ambitious teachers among you – this school is all about opportunities and the Computing department is one in which the school are keen to invest over the coming years. So if you’re an NQT looking for a place to build your career and receive expert training, or an experienced teacher looking for a place to build on your already well-established career and reputation, this is the place for you!

Candidates will be subject to a variety of checks including an enhanced DBS check, full references including your most recent employer and eligibility to work in the UK. Step Teachers are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

Unlike other agencies, Step Teachers are more than happy to process your pay via PAYE – you will not be forced to go with an Umbrella Company whilst on supply.
