Job description

Step Teachers are currently looking for a Cover Supervisor in Bideford for an ongoing supply role in a Secondary School. The position is a general cover role across all subjects and is starting as soon as possible. The role of a Cover Supervisor is to supervise the class while they complete work set by their regular teacher. 

This school is a forward thinking school with a supporting, family ethos. Alongside academic success, the school prioritises students' mental health. 

Role of a Cover Supervisor:

  • Cover lessons in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Ensure the class are on target with the pre-set work
  • Effectively manage the behaviour of the class
  • Upkeep a tidy, organised classroom with accessible resources where needed
  • Work efficiently with any additional staff in the classroom where applicable
  • Willingness to comply with the schools’ policies and implement them effectively

Requirements to be a Cover Supervisor:

  • Completed undergraduate degree or higher
  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor is desirable
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • An interest in working within Secondary Schools as a Cover Supervisor
