Job description

We are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a friendly and supportive team in Oxfordshire. Starting September 2025.

Duties as a Cover Supervisor:

 

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring pupils remain on task and engaged.

  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans across a range of subjects and year groups.

  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and uphold the school’s policies and expectations.

  • Take registers, monitor attendance, and record any issues as required.

  • Provide feedback to teachers about pupil progress and any concerns during cover lessons.

  • Support pupils with their learning where appropriate.

  • Assist with break and lunchtime supervision as needed.

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment at all times.

Ideal Cover Supervisor:

 

  • Good standard of education (minimum GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths).

  • Previous experience working with young people in a school or similar environment is desirable.

  • Confidence to manage a classroom and maintain discipline.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills as a Cover Supervisor.

  • Flexible, reliable, and professional approach to work.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
