Job description
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead to join a vibrant team.
As the DSL, you will take lead responsibility for all safeguarding and child protection matters within the school. You will work proactively to ensure that all staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities and that pupils are safe, supported, and listened to. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a Designated Safeguarding Lead:
Lead on all aspects of safeguarding and child protection across the school.
Act as the first point of contact for staff, parents and external agencies regarding safeguarding concerns.
Maintain accurate, confidential, and secure child protection records.
Liaise with the Headteacher, governors, and local safeguarding partners.
Provide training, advice, and support to all staff on safeguarding and child protection.
Monitor and review school policies and procedures to ensure they are up-to-date and effective.
Promote a culture of safeguarding throughout the school community.
Ideal Designated Safeguarding Lead:
Relevant safeguarding training and qualifications (Level 3 Safeguarding as a minimum).
Proven experience working in safeguarding within an educational setting.
Up-to-date knowledge of legislation, guidance and best practice relating to safeguarding.
Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
