Job description

Step Teachers are seeking to increase our pool of available Caretakers and Site Managers for temporary, short and long term cover across South London. We currently supply Caretakers to over forty schools in the region and there is a constant need for fresh faces! Previous experience as a Caretaker in a school setting is highly desirable, as the nature of the role requires working around children and showing understanding of appropriate behaviour, however those with experience working with young and/or vulnerable people in any setting is also useful.
 
As a relief Caretaker or Site Manager you may be covering anything from an afternoon to a whole school year, and your duties may include any or all of: 
  • Key holding
  • General building/grounds maintenance
  • Maintaining the security and safety of the premises
  • Minor plumbing/heating/electrical repairs (where the correct certification is held)
  • Working at height
  • Lifting and carrying
  • Communicating in a friendly and approachable manner with staff, students, and visitors to the school.
