Job description

Step Teachers currently have an opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant based in Plymouth at an Alternate provision provider. This is a part-time position on an ad-hoc supply basis.  Our ideal candidate will be available to start immediately.

You will be guided by the teacher who will cascade the outcomes required for the week ahead. This will also be a mentoring role where you will provide guidance and be a supportive figure for the learner. We will welcome applications from candidates with Team Teach or other de-escalation training.

The School has asked for a proficient SEN T/A that has the following attributes:
Behaviour Management (SEMH)
Ability to manage a 121 pupil and be able to react quickly with any issues
Ambitious and career-focused applicants particularly welcome
Excellent career progression

We work regularly with the school, maintaining a strong relationship with the staff.  You will find that you’ll often see other Step Teacher colleagues in the setting.

Step Teachers are an agency listed as an approved supplier on the Crown Commercial Service.  This is a new framework for schools to use, ensuring they have access to reputable agencies who meet certain safeguarding and recruitment guidelines.  The DfE are heavily marketing this service across schools and we would strongly suggest making sure you are registered with a CCS approved agency moving forwards.  Registering with Step Teachers ensures you are working for a trusted partner of the DfE.

To be eligible to apply for this role through Step Teachers you will first need to undergo our registration process which includes; a face to face interview, full referencing, qualification checks and the obligatory safeguarding checks as step teachers are committed to the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.
