Job description

Step Teachers are a preferred supplier for Teach in Herts and we are currently working with a Primary School in Welwyn Garden City who are looking for an SEND Teaching Assistant. The SEND Teaching Assistant role will involve working in a Year 2 Class with students with mild ASD. The role is full time starting as soon as possible, and the school are looking for an SEND Teaching Assistant to continue until the end of the academic year. 

This is a Primary School that places kindness and respect and the forefront of their values and encourage students to pursue goals and become successful. The school is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and has a one form-entry. 

Role of an SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Able to provide 1-2-1 support
  • Work effectively with other members of staff in the classroom and throughout the school
  • Ability to support student and encourage their progression
  • Willingness to comply with the schools’ policies and implement effectively

Requirements of an SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Recent experience as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School
  • A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification is desirable
  • Previous SEND experience is essential
