Job description

Step Teachers are currently working with an excellent school in Ilford in search of a SEND Teaching Assistant to help 1:1 with a SEND child. This role starts in January and will continue until the end of the academic term previous experience with SEN children is essential. This wonderful school values their school community and strives to nurture the children's personal, social and emotional development.

This role is subject to start after the Easter Break until the end of the summer term. 

SEND Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Provide one-on-one SEND assistance

  • Assist with classroom management and create a positive and safe classroom atmosphere

  • As an SEN Teaching Assistant you should encourage the student participation and engagement in classroom activities

  • Help maintain a clean and organised learning environment

  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns 

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant with young children, especially in an educational setting, is an advantage

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children

  • A genuine passion for working with children with SEND as an SEND Teaching Assistant
