Year 1 Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and dedicated team. This is a wonderful opportunity to support young learners at a vital stage in their education and help them develop a love of learning. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities for Year 1 pupils.

• Work with small groups or individual children to reinforce learning, particularly in early literacy, phonics, and numeracy.

• Help to create a safe, positive, and stimulating classroom environment.

• Assist with preparing resources, setting up activities, and organising displays.

• Support pupils with additional needs to ensure they can access the curriculum fully.

• Supervise children during playtimes, lunchtimes, and school trips as required.

• Promote positive behaviour and help children develop good social skills.

Ideal Year 1 Teaching Assistant:

• Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting is desirable.

• A good understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, especially phonics and early learning.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant.

• A caring, patient, and flexible attitude.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
