Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive school team. This is a fantastic opportunity to help pupils at this important stage of their primary education and make a real difference to their learning and development. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons for a mixed Year 2/3 class.

  • Work with small groups or individual pupils to reinforce learning in core subjects such as reading, writing, and maths.

  • Assist with phonics, guided reading, and other targeted interventions.

  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Support pupils with additional needs to ensure they can fully access the curriculum.

  • Prepare learning resources, set up activities, and maintain attractive displays.

  • Supervise pupils during break times, lunchtimes, trips, and other activities as required.

  • Promote good behaviour and encourage positive social interactions.

Ideal Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Previous experience working with primary-aged children is desirable, ideally in KS1 or lower KS2.

  • A good understanding of the Year 2 and Year 3 curriculum, including phonics and early literacy/numeracy.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills as a Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant.

  • A caring, patient, and proactive attitude to supporting children’s learning.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
