Class Act Supporting Education and Contributing to Local Communities

Class Act Teaching Services Supports Education

As an education recruitment agency, our job is to ensure that children receive high-quality education in the absence of their usual class teachers. We strive for a seamless process to ensure that learning is uninterrupted and to place the right supply teachers and teaching assistants into the right classrooms. Did you know we also support Oxfordshire schools and education in two ways? Firstly, we assist local schools with the permanent recruitment of teachers. Secondly, we provide learning resources for teachers inside and outside of the classroom.

Helping Schools with Teacher Recruitment

The Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance (OTSA) provides a job board, which allows Oxfordshire schools to advertise their vacancies for no cost whatsoever. With the transition of Oxfordshire County Council services to Hampshire, low-cost advertising routes disappeared, so OTSA helped to fill the void with a more affordable option.

As a specialist education recruitment agency, Class Act Teaching Services knows that school budgets are stretched more each year. We now fund the OTSA Job Board so that all schools can advertise for free. Our funding allows schools to redirect hundred if not thousands of pounds they would have spent on advertising Oxfordshire teaching jobs to other essential needs.

Low Fixed Education Recruitment Fees

Having one very low fixed arrangement fee is another way that we support Oxfordshire school budgets. Education recruitment agencies traditionally charge high release fees when one of their teachers is requested for a permanent contract with a placement school. It is not unusual for these to cost several thousand pounds per appointment. We think this is wrong.

Back in 2016, after much thought, about how we could make our charging structure even fairer, we introduced an industry-leading low fixed charge. Once again, this initiative has the potential to save schools thousands of pounds each time a permanent teacher is appointed. Our schools love this new approach - the feedback is amazing.

Promoting Local Learning in Oxfordshire

Hamilton Trust is well known in education circles and Professor Ruth Merrtens was a main speaker ay the OHTC 2016, giving us fantastic insight into how to make numeracy fun. We are delighted to announce we are working with Hamilton Trust and all our supply teachers now have access to their education resources via our secure web links. This means that when a Class Act teacher comes to your school, they will have the latest tools and techniques to share in you classroom.

Main Event Sponsor of the Oxfordshire Headteachers' Conference

Since 2016, Class Act has proudly supported and been the main sponsor of the Oxfordshire Headteachers' Conference (OHTC). Class Act's attendance, support and sponsorship of the OHTC allows us to speak directly to the head teachers and the other senior school staff to discuss a range of hot topics. We use this learning to shape our primary teaching services and develop new ways of supporting our Oxfordshire schools and supply teaching staff.

Class Act Teaching Services Contributing to Local Communities

While some education recruitment agencies and other business coin it as corporate social responsibility, we like to think of supporting Oxfordshire communities as being good neighbours...

Class Act Teaching Services Supports Play2Give

Play2give is a Dicot-based Oxfordshire fundraising organisation founded in 2007 by Andrew Baker MBE BCAv. After many years' treatment for a brain injury he was born with, Andrew, at the age of 14, began his mission to thank the medics who saved his life. Over 10 years later, his fundraising efforts still help ill children at Oxford Children's Hospital and victims of brain injuries at headway Oxfordshire.

In recognition of his work, Andrew was invited to Buckingham Palace for the Queen's garden party to receive a British Citizen Award in July 2017. He was also awarded an MBE in Her Majesty The Queen's New Year Honours 2021.

Each Christmas, Class Act Teaching Services hopes to find new ways to help children and families across Oxfordshire. Projects with a big direct positive impact on children in our area are always of interest and we are delighted to be able to, with the help of our supply teachers and teaching assistants, support Play2Give.

Oxford City Stars and Junior Stars Ice Hockey Teams

Sport is an important part of a child's education and learning outside of the classroom is crucial in the development of young people. So, back in 2016, we began our sponsorship of Oxfordshire's ice hockey teams, The Oxford City Stars and the U11 and U9 Junior Stars. This support is ongoing.

Ice hockey is the world's fastest team game, is full of skilful stick handling, tactics, speed and grit, making it such an exciting sport to watch and play. With over 300,000 people visiting each year, this was an opportunity to encourage children to be active and try a new sport or experience.

The Oxford City Stars are very interested in Oxfordshire communities and youth development already offering free sessions for children to try the game. So , with our primary school connections, we were a natural fit and more than happy to make introductions.

Attending sports can be pricey, so back in 2018, we encouraged Oxfordshire children to come along and watch this exciting sport for free. The response was fantastic and so we hope to do something similar again soon.
