Attendance Officer
Job description
We are seeking an organised and proactive Attendance Officer to join a supportive school team in September 2025.
Duties as an Attendance Officer:
Monitor and track pupil attendance and punctuality on a daily basis.
Maintain accurate attendance records using the school’s management information system.
Follow up unexplained absences promptly with parents/carers by phone, email, or home visits if required.
Work closely with staff, pupils, and families to identify barriers to good attendance and support strategies to improve it.
Prepare attendance reports for senior leaders and external agencies as needed.
Promote the importance of good attendance and punctuality throughout the school.
Liaise with external agencies such as the Education Welfare Service where necessary.
Assist with administrative tasks related to admissions, registers, and punctuality.
Ideal Attendance Officer:
Experience working in an administrative role, ideally within an education setting.
Excellent IT skills, including use of databases and MS Office.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills as Attendance Officer.
Ability to work with sensitivity and confidentiality.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of safeguarding and data protection procedures (desirable).
