Job description

Are you passionate about helping young people understand their rights, responsibilities, and role in society? We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Citizenship Teacher to join a humanities or PSHE faculty and make a real impact on students' personal, social, and civic development. You will deliver high-quality Citizenship lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering topics such as democracy, justice, human rights, media literacy, diversity, and active participation. The role may also involve contributing to the PSHE or RSHE curriculum, depending on your expertise and experience. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as Citizenship Teacher:

 

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons aligned with the national curriculum for Citizenship

  • Promote critical thinking, debate, and student voice through current affairs and civic issues

  • Encourage active citizenship through school and community initiatives

  • Support students in developing understanding of political systems, law, and ethical issues

  • Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular projects and enrichment opportunities

  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment

Ideal Citizenship Teacher:

 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A degree in Citizenship, Politics, Sociology, Law, or a related subject

  • Strong subject knowledge and commitment to Citizenship education

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills as a Citizenship Teacher.

  • A passion for social justice, democracy, and active engagement

  • A reflective and flexible approach to teaching and learning
