Job description

Do you have experience working with children who have ASD and/or behahvioural related learning issues? I am currently looking for staff who are interested in working in one of my Enfield schools. This is a through school based in Enfield and easy to get to due to good transport links. The school has been an outstanding school for the last few years and offers all staff a warm and inclusive environment for all pupils and staff.

The school is one of the best at ensuring behaviours in and out of the classroom are at the highest standard possible and where there are issues a positive behaviour plan is put in place.

Starting soon, the school want to see an addition to the excellent team they currently work with. Your role will be to support the existing staff in assisting the teacher with the delivery of lesson plans across the class. You will also be required to help the children with reading and writing and ensuring that safeguarding is paramount in all circumstances.

The pupils are all friendly and are either on the ASD spectrum or have SEMH, therefore, an understanding of ASD and managing behavioural challenges is essential as is an empathetic approach to the learners. You will need to be aware of boundaries and also aware of external issues that may appear in the classroom from time to time.

The school wants someone to join them who can add value and make a positive impact on the children’s lives.

If you have worked with children in a school setting either paid or voluntary than this would be ideal for you. Please apply to get the process started.

In addition to this we also offer:

  • Free CPD courses
  • The potential for a permanent role within the academic year
  • Holiday pay for when you are not working
  • Flexibility for students who are studying and require classroom experience

Candidates will be subject to a variety of checks including an enhanced DBS check, full references including your most recent employer and eligibility to work in the UK. Step Teachers are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

Unlike other agencies, Step Teachers are more than happy to process your pay via PAYE – you will not be forced to go with an Umbrella Company.
