Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Design and Technology Teacher to join an innovative and forward-thinking school. The successful candidate will have a passion for creativity and problem-solving, and the ability to inspire and challenge students across Key Stages 3,4 and Key Stage 5.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons in a range of DT disciplines, such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles or Food Technology, depending on your specialism. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Design Technology Teacher:

 

  • Plan and deliver high-quality DT lessons that inspire creativity and innovation.

  • Prepare students for external assessments such as GCSE and/or A-Level DT.

  • Ensure a safe and well-maintained workshop or classroom environment.

  • Promote independent thinking, resilience and technical skills.

  • Assess, monitor and report on student progress.

  • Contribute to departmental curriculum development and enrichment activities.

  • Support whole-school priorities and wider initiatives, including cross-curricular projects or STEM programmes.

Ideal Design Technology Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • A degree in Design and Technology or a related subject.

  • Knowledge of current curriculum developments in DT.

  • Practical skills in workshop tools, CAD/CAM, or other specialist equipment/software.

  • Commitment to health and safety practices in a practical environment as a Design Technology Teacher.

  • Strong classroom management and a creative, reflective teaching approach.
