Design Technology Teacher
Job description
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Design and Technology Teacher to join an innovative and well-resourced DT department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about design, engineering, and practical learning to inspire the next generation of creators and problem-solvers. You will teach Design and Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to deliver Key Stage 5 depending on your experience and interests. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach a broad range of DT areas (e.g. Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, or Engineering) and encourage students to think critically, work practically, and develop real-world skills. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a Design Technology Teacher:
Deliver engaging and practical lessons that promote creativity and technical skill
Plan and assess learning in line with national curriculum and exam board requirements
Prepare students for GCSE (and A-Level, if applicable) success in DT subjects
Maintain a safe and well-organised workshop/classroom environment
Contribute to curriculum development and extra-curricular clubs or competitions
Foster innovation, teamwork, and resilience among students
Ideal Design Technology Teacher:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A degree in Design and Technology or a related subject area
Strong practical skills and knowledge of tools, materials, and safety practices
Experience teaching DT at secondary level (NQTs/ECTs are welcome to apply)
Strong organisational, communication, and classroom management abilities as a Design Technology Teacher.
A passion for design, problem-solving, and technical learning
