Design Technology Teacher
Job description
We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated Design Technology Teacher to join our innovative and supportive department.
You will deliver engaging and practical DT lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping students develop creative thinking, technical skills, and an understanding of design principles. You will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential through practical and theoretical work. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a Design Technology Teacher:
Teach Design Technology to KS3/KS4.
Plan and deliver high-quality, inspiring lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
Prepare resources and manage equipment, ensuring workshops and classrooms are safe, organised and well-maintained.
Promote safe working practices in all practical lessons.
Assess, monitor and report on student progress in line with school policies.
Contribute to the development of the Design Technology curriculum.
Take part in departmental meetings, CPD and whole-school events.
Support and run extracurricular activities such as DT clubs or competitions.
Ideal Design Technology Teacher:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Specialism in Design Technology (e.g. Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Engineering, Textiles).
Experience teaching DT at secondary level.
Strong subject knowledge and up-to-date awareness of developments in DT education.
Excellent practical skills and a commitment to safe working practices.
Ability to motivate and engage students of all abilities.
Strong organisational and communication skills as a Design Technology Teacher.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one).
