Job description
We are looking to appoint an inspirational English Lead Practitioner to join a high-achieving school and play a key role in raising standards of teaching and learning across the English department. This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding classroom practitioner with leadership potential to make a significant impact on student outcomes and whole-school improvement. Beginning January 2026.
Duties as English Lead Practitioner:
Deliver outstanding English lessons across KS3–KS5, acting as a role model for high-quality teaching.
Support the professional development of colleagues through coaching, mentoring, and collaborative planning.
Lead on curriculum innovation, ensuring schemes of work are engaging, challenging, and accessible to all learners.
Monitor, track and evaluate the impact of teaching and learning strategies within the department.
Share and model best practice across the school to improve pedagogy and raise attainment.
Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and literacy initiatives.
Ideal English Lead Practitioner:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in English (or a closely related subject).
Proven track record of excellent classroom practice and strong pupil outcomes.
Experience of leading initiatives to raise standards of teaching and learning.
Strong communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
A passion for inspiring both students and colleagues.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
