Job description

A Secondary School in Didcot is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their English department from September 2025 for a full time role. The role will involve teaching across Key Stage 3 and 4 and the school are looking for an English Teacher initially for a long-term supply role with the view to the position becoming permanent.

Duties as English Teacher:

  • Teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons that stretch and support all learners

  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations with a focus on high achievement and progress

  • Contribute to the wider life of the department, including extra-curricular clubs, trips, and events

  • Participate in curriculum development and whole-school literacy initiatives

Ideal English Teacher:

  • QTS/QTLS or an equivalent teaching qualification

  • A degree in English or a closely related subject

  • Recent experience as an English Teacher in a mainstream Secondary School
  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for literature and writing

  • A reflective practitioner with high expectations of all students

  • Excellent classroom management and the ability to create an inclusive learning environment as an English Teacher.

  • A team player committed to continuous professional development
