Job description

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will help students develop strong literacy, analytical and communication skills, fostering a lifelong love of literature and language. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as an English Teacher:

 

  • Teach English Language and Literature to KS3/KS4.

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that motivate and stretch all learners.

  • Prepare, assess and monitor students’ work in line with school and exam board requirements.

  • Contribute to the development of an exciting and relevant English curriculum.

  • Support students’ progress through high expectations, constructive feedback and intervention when needed.

  • Promote a positive learning environment and excellent standards of classroom behaviour.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the department and school, including enrichment activities, trips and events.

  • Take part in departmental meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives.

Ideal English Teacher:

 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.

  • Experience teaching English at secondary level.

  • Ability to inspire, motivate and engage students of all abilities.

  • Excellent planning, organisational and classroom management skills as an English Teacher.

  • A commitment to promoting high standards of literacy and a love of reading.

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one)
