Job description

English Teacher – Full-time, long-term maternity cover from January 2026 until July 2026

 
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school with a strong sense of community and academic excellence. Duties as an English Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress in line with school policies
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and pupil outcomes
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote student well-being

Ideal English Teacher:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience teaching English in secondary schools
  • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and effective classroom management
  • Committed to fostering a positive learning environment
  • Enthusiastic about contributing to school life beyond the classroom
  • Able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
