Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Food Technology Teacher to join a successful Design & Technology Department.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inspiring Food Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting students to develop vital practical cookery skills, nutritional knowledge and an understanding of food science and safety. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Food Technology Teacher:

 

  • Teach Food Technology to KS3/KS4.

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons that cater for a range of abilities.

  • Develop and adapt resources to inspire creativity and independent learning.

  • Ensure high standards of food hygiene, health and safety are maintained at all times.

  • Monitor, assess, record and report on students’ progress and attainment.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the department and school, including extracurricular activities, clubs or competitions.

  • Manage and organise practical sessions, ingredients and equipment effectively.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and departmental priorities.

Ideal Food Technology Teacher:

 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Specialism in Food Technology, Catering, or related subject area.

  • Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level.

  • Strong subject knowledge and excellent practical cookery skills.

  • A genuine passion for inspiring students in food preparation and nutrition.

  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills as a Food Technology Teacher.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one).
