Job description

Step Teachers, as a part of our ongoing success in building and retaining relationships with many schools and academy trusts in the area, are currently looking for a Head of Music for Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 in a Secondary School near Crouch End to start in January 2024. This is a full-time role with the potential of becoming permanent for the right candidate.

This is a "Good" Ofsted-rated school where pupils enjoy school and are safe. They spoke of the sense of family they get from being in a small school. Relationships between staff and pupils are positive. They reflect respect and kindness, both of which are at the core of this community school’s ethos. Equity is also an important value for both leaders and pupils.

Role:

  • Good knowledge of the KS3 to KS4 Music Curriculum

  • Able to plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons

  • Maintain a well-organised classroom and ensure the safe use and storage of all equipment

  • Work effectively with other members of staff, both within the department and throughout the school

  • Ability to assess students, monitor their progress, and provide constructive feedback

  • Compliance with the schools’ policies and the reliable implementation of these

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent qualification

  • Have recent mainstream school-based experience teaching Music / Performing Arts at the Secondary School level.

  • Have a good level of classroom and behaviour management

  • A relevant Performing Arts/Music-related degree is desirable

  • SEND experience is desirable
