Lead English Teacher
Job description

We are seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic and ambitious Lead English Teacher to drive forward teaching and learning in English and inspire a love of literature and language across the school. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as Lead English Teacher:
Provide strategic leadership for the English department, raising standards and securing excellent outcomes.
Model outstanding classroom practice and support colleagues in developing their teaching.
Plan, implement and monitor a dynamic, challenging and inclusive English curriculum.
Use data effectively to track progress, identify gaps, and plan interventions.
Lead and coordinate staff development in English teaching, including mentoring and CPD.
Champion reading and literacy across the school, building a strong reading culture.
Ideal Lead English Teacher:
A qualified teacher with QTS and a strong track record of teaching English successfully.
Proven experience of raising attainment and leading on curriculum development.
Excellent knowledge of English pedagogy, assessment and curriculum requirements as Lead English Teacher.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and support staff and pupils.
A passion for English and a commitment to promoting high standards and a love of learning.
Experience of supporting whole-school literacy initiatives – desirable.
