Job description

We are looking to appoint a supportive and motivated Further Education Learning Support Assistant to work with learners in a post-16 environment. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in helping young adults thrive academically, personally, and professionally within a dynamic and inclusive setting. Beginning September 2025!

Duties as a Further Education Learning Support Assistant:

  • Support students individually and in groups, helping them access learning and reach their goals
  • Work as a Learning Support Assistant with learners who have additional needs such as SEND, EAL, or academic barriers
  • Collaborate with lecturers to deliver inclusive, engaging lessons tailored to student needs
  • Offer feedback and monitor progress, promoting growth and independence
  • Help prepare and manage learning materials and vocational resources
  • Assist with employability activities, placements, and career development
  • Foster inclusion and ensure every learner feels supported and valued
  • Liaise with colleagues, support teams, and families to enhance the student experience
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and take part in relevant training as a Learning Support Assistant

Ideal Further Education Learning Support Assistant:

  • Experience working with post-16 students or in a Further Education setting (desirable but not essential)
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to the Learning Support Assistant role
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Confidence with literacy and numeracy (Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Reliable, flexible, and eager to grow within an educational team
  • Understanding of safeguarding and student welfare principles
