Job description
Level 3 SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-time, temp to perm position starting January 2026
We are seeking a dedicated Level 3 SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school environment. The school promotes high standards of teaching and learning, with a strong emphasis on pupil wellbeing and personal development. Duties as Level 3 SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions
- Help manage behaviour and promote emotional regulation strategies
- Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience and independence
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and structured learning environment
Ideal Level 3 SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Holds a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent
- Experience working with secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and emotional support strategies
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Patient, empathetic and resilient approach to supporting young people
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
