Job description

Due to the unprecedented times we currently find ourselves in, there will be a certain amount of trepidation and uncertainty as to how schools are going to recruit for upcoming positions prior to the schools reopening.

We are looking to assist and support schools as much as we can with this.  To offer them temporary and permanent solutions in the filling of daily, short term and long term positions until times get back to normal and beyond.  One of the ways we are doing this is by spending our time, whilst the schools are only open for key workers’ children, to register teachers across Fenland and King’s Lynn, so we are ready for any assistance the schools may need when they open their doors to the children once again.

With that in mind, we would like to know if you are looking for a change for the coming school year? A new challenge or opportunity? Or maybe you were working full time prior to the schools closing and you want to make a move to a more part-time position?  If so, then we would LOVE to hear from you.

Step Teachers can offer you competitive pay rates, the freedom to teach at different schools on a daily basis as well as becoming part of our ever-growing Step Teachers family.   Due to the travel restrictions that the Covid-19 has bought, we have adapted to the situation and are all set up to complete interviews remotely from the comfort of your own home.  All you need is your smartphone!

The role of a supply teacher is varied where no day will be the same.  You will be able to experience different school settings and control the days you work.

As a supply teacher you can expect from us;

  • An individual consultant helping to place you in the schools you want
  • PAYE pay processed weekly
  • An approachable and friendly team
  • Access to exclusive perks and benefits as a member of our team

As a Primary supply teacher you should have;

  • Have a Degree Level Qualification, PGCE or QTS Qualification
  • Recent teaching experience
  • A calm demeanour who is able to adapt under pressure
  • Excellent classroom management strategies which are robust and flexible

If you are looking to gain experience after completing your training as a teacher or are an experienced teacher looking to give your career more flexibility by becoming a supply teacher please get in contact today.

Candidates will be subject to a variety of checks including an enhanced DBS check, full references including your most recent employer and eligibility to work in the UK. Step Teachers are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

Unlike other agencies, Step Teachers are more than happy to process your pay via PAYE – you will not be forced to go with an Umbrella Company.

Get special perks for free while working PAYE with Step Teachers such as a qualified GP 24/7 with webcam consultations, examinations and email prescriptions. In addition to a confidential helpline for stress-related issues.

Step Teachers are an agency listed as an approved supplier on the Crown Commercial Service.  This is a new framework for schools to use, ensuring they have access to reputable agencies who meet certain safeguarding and recruitment guidelines.  The DfE are heavily marketing this service across schools and we would strongly suggest making sure you are registered with a CCS approved agency moving forwards.  Registering with Step Teachers ensures you are working for a trusted partner of the DfE.
