Readers/Scribes and Exam Invigilator – Temporary roles during the exam period from May 2026 to July 2026
This role offers calm, supportive, and well‑organised environments where pupils benefit from clear routines and staff who prioritise fairness and consistency during examinations. You will work closely with leaders of the exam teams to maintain high standards of integrity, ensuring that all students feel supported, safe, and able to perform to the best of their abilities. Pupils respond positively to the structured approach and the presence of attentive adults who help create a focused and reassuring exam atmosphere.
Duties as Readers/Scribes and Exam Invigilator:
- Read exam questions aloud to students who require this support
- Write or type students’ dictated answers during examinations
- Follow JCQ exam regulations and school procedures at all times
- Support students with a range of additional needs as required
- Maintain exam integrity and ensure a calm, orderly environment
- Supervise students throughout examinations and report any issues
- Uphold safeguarding standards and prioritise pupil welfare
Ideal Readers/Scribes and Exam Invigilator:
- No experience is necessary but a good command of spoken and written English is essential for Readers/Scribes
- Exam invigilators will have access to a free online accredited course which will result in a qualification.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in exam settings
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable following strict procedures
- Able to support students with varied additional needs respectfully
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being
