Job description

Step Teachers are currently looking for a Secondary School English Teacher in Newham to start in September 2023. This is initially a long term supply, and at the discretion of the school, the contract may be extended. The role is full time teaching English across all Key Stages. 

The position is at a Secondary school which embraces challenges and strives to equip every student with the confidence and resilience for the future. This school rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, with feedback commenting on the encouraging learning environment which is supportive of the student.

Role:

  • Good knowledge of KS3 and KS4 
  • Able to plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons
  • Maintain a well organised classroom
  • Work effectively with other members of staff, both within the department and throughout the school
  • Ability to assess students, monitor their progress, and provide constructive feedback
  • Compliance with the schools’ policies and the reliable implementation of these

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent qualification
  • Have recent mainstream school-base experience teaching English at Secondary school level.
  • Have a good level of classroom and behaviour management
  • SEND experience is desirable
