SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary role starting as soon as possible

This is a rewarding opportunity for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils in an Alternative Provision setting, both on-site and through outreach. Staff work collaboratively to ensure high standards of teaching and pastoral care, with a strong focus on individual progress and emotional well-being.

Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs
Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions
Support pupils in managing behaviour and developing coping strategies
Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and external agencies
Participate in outreach work to support pupils in alternative settings
Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews
Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment

Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practice
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning
Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
Relevant qualifications in education, child development or support work are desirable
