Job description
SEMH Teaching Assistant – Day-to-day supply from as soon as possible
These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEMH Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You’ll be supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a range of inclusive and supportive environments.
Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive interactions
- Support pupils in developing social and emotional skills
- Work collaboratively with school staff and external professionals
- Adapt resources and strategies to meet individual learning needs
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A flexible and proactive attitude to working across different settings
- Relevant qualifications or training in education or child development are desirable
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
