Step Teachers in Manchester are recruiting for a Trainee Teacher for an independent Alternative Education Provision in Trafford for secondary aged children with Social Emotional or Mental Health needs, SEMH.
Role: SEMH Trainee Teacher at independent Alternative Education Provision in Trafford.
Start: September 2025.
Contract: Permanent.
Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Excellent Pay: up to £24,000.
Paid to your usual scale rate from 13th week onwards.
10 minutes’ walk from Metrolink tram stop.
Easily accessible by bus
What you’ll do:
- Teach small, ability-based groups (max 10) in a nurturing setting.
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to SEMH needs.
- Work closely with SEN staff, therapists, and senior leaders.
- Support and guide your class-based SEN TA’s.
- Track pupil progress and share meaningful feedback with families and leaders.
- Develop students' well-being, life skills, and resilience alongside academic progress.
- Foster a calm, consistent learning environment using positive behaviour strategies.
- Take part in regular CPD and whole-school development initiatives.
