Job description
We are seeking a compassionate and committed SEN 1:1 Support Assistant to provide tailored support to a pupil with special educational needs. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about helping children reach their full potential. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a SEN 121 Support Assistant:
Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
Implement strategies outlined in the EHCP and support learning across the curriculum
Promote independence, confidence, and emotional well-being
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
Support with behaviour management, communication, and access to learning
Maintain accurate records of progress and share feedback with staff and parents
Ideal SEN 121 Support Assistant:
Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 capacity
A calm, empathetic, and flexible approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a SEN 121 Support Assistant.
Understanding of a range of needs such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or SEMH
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) – desirable but not essential
Knowledge of safeguarding and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children
