SEN 121 Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a caring and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team. This role involves providing individual support to a pupil with special educational needs, helping them to access learning and make progress in a nurturing environment. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a SEN 121 Teaching Assistant:

• Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with specific learning, behavioural, or medical needs, as directed by the class teacher and SENCO.

• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the pupil’s individual needs.

• Implement strategies from the pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or Individual Education Plan (IEP).

• Support the pupil’s social, emotional and personal development.

• Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents/carers.

• Help to manage the pupil’s behaviour in a positive and consistent manner.

• Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCO, parents and external professionals.

Ideal SEN 121 Teaching Assistant:

• Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs, ideally in a 1:1 capacity.

• A patient, compassionate and adaptable approach.

• Good communication and teamwork skills as a SEN 121 Teaching Assistant.

• An understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

• A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
