Job description

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated SEN HLTA to join a wonderful team, providing high-quality support for pupils with Special Educational Needs across the school. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a SEN HLTA:

 

  • Deliver planned learning activities to individuals, small groups, or whole classes under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo.

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and adapting resources to meet the needs of pupils with a range of additional needs.

  • Lead targeted interventions to support pupils’ academic progress, social skills, and emotional wellbeing.

  • Support and guide other teaching assistants working with SEN pupils.

  • Monitor, assess, and record pupils’ progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and relevant staff.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

  • Support the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils.

Ideal SEN HLTA:

 

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification.

  • Significant experience supporting pupils with special educational needs.

  • Strong understanding of a range of SEN strategies and interventions.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills as a SEN HLTA.

  • Ability to show initiative and work independently when required.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
