Job description

Step Teachers are currently working with a Secondary School who are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant. The position will involve working 1:1 with a student with Autism. This SEN Teaching Assistant position is starting after the Easter Break and continuing for one academic term with the potential to be extended further. The is proud of their curriculum and facilities and is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who can embody and uphold their values.

Role of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support a student on a 1:1 basis and effectively adapt to their needs
  • Have a good understanding of special education needs
  • Work effectively with other members of staff in the classroom and throughout the school, including the class teacher and the SENCo
  • Upkeep a tidy, organised classroom with accessible resources where needed
  • Ability to support students and encourage their progression
  • Willingness to comply with the schools’ policies and implement effectively

Requirements of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Recent experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant
  • A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification is desirable
  • Prior experience working with Autism
