Job description

SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Permanent, 31.25 hours per week starting February 2026

Duties as SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND needs, ensuring engagement and progress
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
  • Adapt resources and strategies to meet individual needs
  • Support the pupil in developing social and communication skills
  • Maintain accurate records and liaise with the SENCO and teaching staff
  • Uphold safeguarding standards and ensure the welfare of all pupils

Ideal SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a primary setting
  • Strong understanding of strategies for supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Ability to build positive relationships and encourage independence
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
