Job description
SEND HLTA – Full-time, Temporary Long-term and Ongoing, Starting January 2026
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND HLTA to join a supportive and inclusive school environment. The school is committed to providing high-quality education and tailored support for pupils with special educational needs, fostering a culture of respect, resilience, and achievement. Staff work collaboratively to ensure every child feels valued and can thrive both academically and personally.
Duties as SEND HLTA:
- Deliver targeted interventions and support for pupils with SEND across KS1 and KS2
- Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement individual education plans (IEPs)
- Lead small group sessions and provide one-to-one support where required
- Assist in planning and adapting learning activities to meet diverse needs
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being in line with school policies
- Support the development of inclusive classroom practices
Ideal SEND HLTA:
- Previous experience working with pupils with SEND in a primary setting
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of strategies for supporting children with additional needs
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
