SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time and part-time roles available from ASAP
 
We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants with proven PMLD experience to support pupils with complex needs across schools in Shepherds Bush and the surrounding areas. These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who want to make a meaningful difference in inclusive and specialist learning environments.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and complex medical needs
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support in both classroom and therapeutic settings
  • Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility where required
  • Promote communication, independence, and emotional well-being
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to implement individual learning plans
  • Contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with PMLD is essential
  • Experience in SEND, care, or specialist education settings
  • Manual handling and personal care experience is highly desirable
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
