Job description
SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long-term temporary from as soon as possible
This specialist primary school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils with severe learning disabilities and complex needs are supported to thrive. Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with severe learning disabilities and complex needs
- Assist in the implementation of individual education and care plans
- Support pupils with physical, sensory, and communication needs
- Work closely with teaching staff and therapists to create a safe and engaging learning environment
- Use specialist resources and strategies to promote pupil development
- Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and reports
- Promote inclusion and encourage positive relationships within the school community
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Holds relevant qualifications or experience in SEND support
- Has experience working with pupils with severe learning disabilities and complex needs
- Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Is confident supporting pupils with physical and sensory needs
- Shows empathy, patience, and a proactive approach to challenges
- Has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
