Job description

Are you a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a difference in the lives of kids with complex needs? Step Teachers are looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant for supply in the Broadland, Norwich District.

Key Responsibilities of a SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with SEND, assisting with their educational and personal development.
  • The SEND Teaching Assistant should assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to implement tailored support plans for students with SEND.
  • The SEND Teaching Assistant should maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to comprehensive assessments and reports.

Requirements of a SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Previously working as a Teaching Assistant with SEN experience in a mainstream school.
  • Level 3 qualification is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • SEND experience is essential.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in different educational settings.
