Job description
SEND Teaching Assistant – Part-time, long-term temporary roles starting as soon as possible
These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEND Teaching Assistants who want to make a meaningful impact across secondary schools in Salford and the surrounding areas. You’ll be supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them access learning and develop confidence in a safe and inclusive environment.
Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
- Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to adapt learning materials
- Promote pupil independence and engagement in lessons
- Monitor and record pupil progress and well-being
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and school policies
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a SEND Teaching Assistant
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being
