Job description
SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time and part-time roles available from ASAP
We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants with proven PRU experience to support pupils with complex needs across schools in Harlesden and the surrounding areas. These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who want to make a meaningful difference in inclusive and alternative learning environments.
Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Support pupils with a range of special educational needs including SEMH, autism, ADHD, and behavioural challenges
- Provide one-to-one and small group support in PRU and mainstream settings
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
- Help pupils engage with the curriculum and develop independence
- Contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working in PRU or alternative provision settings is essential
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
