SEND Teaching Assistant – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately

These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Great Yarmouth and the surrounding areas, helping them access learning and develop confidence through tailored SEND support.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and accessible learning activities
  • Help implement individual education plans and personalised strategies
  • Support pupils with communication, sensory, physical, cognitive, or social needs
  • Promote a calm, inclusive, and positive learning environment
  • Assist pupils with personal care needs where required
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and share observations with staff
  • Contribute to wider school routines during longer-term placements

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Understanding of strategies for needs such as autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, or speech and language difficulties
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Confident using behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
  • Adaptable across different key stages and classroom environments
  • Professional, reliable, and proactive
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
