Job description
We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive primary school team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young children and supporting their learning and development during a crucial stage of their education. Starting September 2025.
Duties as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant:
Work closely with the class teacher to support learning across the Year 1 curriculum.
Provide 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils with phonics, reading, writing and numeracy.
Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organisation and resource management.
Support children’s social and emotional development, ensuring a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Contribute to the wider school community, including playground duties and school events.
Ideal Year 1 Teaching Assistant:
Experience working with children in a school or early years setting (desirable).
A relevant childcare or teaching assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, CACHE or equivalent).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant.
A patient, caring and positive approach to working with young children.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
